Update on the journey for MTAiQ client ACE EV Group
Australian electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer ACE EV Group continue to make big strides in bringing automotive manufacturing back to Australia, with the company recently signing an agreement that will focus on bringing autonomous driving technology to their locally manufactured vehicles.
The MTAiQ client and 2018 winner of the Innovation Award at the MTA Queensland Industry Awards Gala recently announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding with leading Australian AI solutions provider SenSen Networks Limited (SenSen) to develop and test autonomous driving capabilities in Australia.
Under the partnership, ACE will work with SenSen to further SenSen’s AI and sensor analytics solutions for autonomous driving, aiming to develop a collision avoidance system that will ultimately be introduced in ACE’s EV systems.
This system will aid ACE in its aim to become the first manufacturer in Australia to develop vehicles with autonomous driving capability.
ACE Managing Director Greg McGarvie said he was excited by the potential of the partnership.
“This is a great opportunity for two clever, innovating Australian companies to demonstrate leadership in the development of a cleaner, more secure, cost-efficient and smart transport system,” said McGarvie.
“Not only does the ACE vehicle bring back vehicle manufacturing and energy solutions to Australia, but as a world leader in AI and sensor technology, SenSen will provide its expertise to making our vehicles autonomous – a first for Australia!”
The MoU is another feather in the cap for ACE, who have continued to make waves in Australia as they look to become the first local manufacturer of EVs and bring manufacturing back to Australia.
Speaking on the success of ACE, Dr Brett Dale, Group CEO for the Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) said, “ACE EV Group is a strong contender to become Australia’s first electric vehicle manufacturer. We are proud to have been involved with the concept and have been integral in the first prototype being assembled in Australia at the MTA Institute (RTO 31529). MTA Queensland has been a massive supporter of ACE EV Group, with the business taking out the Innovation Award at the industry’s signature automotive event, the MTA Queensland Industry Awards Gala in 2018.”
In more exciting news, ACE officially launched reservations for the ACE YEWT, the company’s first electric ute model, on World EV Day. Reservations are now available through the ACE website.
