Subscription Car Service Arrives in Queensland
Similar to other subscription services taken up by consumers, like Spotify or Netflix, car manufacturers have begun to offer customers a monthly subscription to access a range of their brand’s models.
Dr Brett Dale, CEO for MTA Queensland and MTAiQ (Australia’s first automotive / mobility innovation hub) said, “Everyday we are seeing something new and it was not going to be long before car manufacturers would join the growing number of automotive disruptors. The automotive and mobility industry is undergoing enormous change as we navigate an innovation revolution.
“This concept challenges the vehicle ownership model, whereby consumers can subscribe to a car from a range of options produced by the manufacturer and costs like insurance, registration and servicing is included. Basically petrol is the only expense and you can choose a car to suit your needs. For example an SUV or a sportscar could be chosen depending on your weekend activities.”
Motorama at Springwood launched its Motopool service in December 2018. Subscriptions start at $990 a month and customers can choose from a range of Holden models including Colorados, Commodores and Captivas, while the premium range of Camaros, SportsCats and Acadias are available for $1800 per month.
