Self-driving cars to deliver groceries

Startup AutoX has announced a service that will allow consumers with a smartphone to summon a mobile grocery store in the form of a self-driving car.

The service is set to kick off in parts of San Jose, California this month as a partnership with e-commerce company GrubMarket.com; which sources food from producers.

AutoC founder and chief executive Jianxiong Xiao said, “We’re very excited to launch the first autonomous grocery delivery and mobile store service in the heart of Silicon Valley with self-driving vehicles on the road.

“We believe self-driving car technologies will fundamentally change people’s daily lives for the better.”

The service will be available to place grocery orders and to browse if uncertain of what you want. A human backup driver will be on board as per the regulations.
