Opel reveals electric rally car and new rally series

Opel has become the first vehicle manufacturer in the world to offer an electric car for customer rally sport.

The Corsa-e Rally will compete in the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup – the first brand cup for electric cars in the world – which is set to begin in 2020. 15 of Opel’s the electric cars are planned for the race series.

Initially the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup will take place during rounds of the German Rally Championship and other selected events.

The Corsa-e Rally has been engineered to produce 100kW (130hp) and 260Nm of torque from a standstill, with power coming from a 50kWh lithium-ion battery.

Available from Opel Motorsport, the Corsa-e Rally is set to cost less than €50,000 ($AU82,000).
