MTAiQ client to open new round of crowdfunding to launch app

MTAiQ client Refueler is on the verge of releasing their world first mobile app that promises drivers cheap fuel even when prices are at a premium.

Following trials at a petrol station in South-East Melbourne, the Adelaide based startup is hoping to partner with additional service stations and open the app to the general public in the near future.

However, to achieve this, additional funding is required.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) campaign will open to raise awareness of the product, before a round of crowdfunding is launched to raise funds.

“We decided to go down the crowdfunding route to get engagement – let people be part of something that’ll actually work and save them some money,” said Refueler Managing Director Luigi Antonuccio.

“If you want to be one of the first investors, you’ll have to express your interest, as we’ll only share the private campaign with our followers from the EOI campaign.”

The Refueler app works by letting drivers pre-purchase fuel at a participating service station when the price is low and pump it into their vehicle when needed. This means drivers will never have to pay a premium for petrol again. Drivers have ten days from the date of purchase to collect the petrol.

Refueler is focusing on working with independent petrol stations who don’t have the same digital presence or resources as the big-name chains.

“We’ve got about 500 service stations that have signed our expression of interest – ready to board, effectively,” said Antonuccio.

The incentive for service stations to come on board is that with more customers coming through the bowsers, the hope is that they will purchase additional items from the station.

MTAiQ first came into contact with Refueler in August 2018, when they were in town for a blockchain technology conference and have gone on to establish a healthy partnership.

“MTAiQ membership has provided Refueler with access to the innovation hub’s A+ facilities, a media launch and some fantastic media attention as well,” said Antonucci.

“They have welcomed us with open arms and have helped us a great deal.”

Refueler are hoping to open the service to the public in the next week and are excited about the opportunity they are offering to potential investors.

“We’re genuinely excited about offering you this opportunity as we continue our mission to save motorists on fuel costs while helping independents.”
