Hyundai To Open New Hydrogen Vehicle Refueller

Hyundai’s Sydney headquarters is getting a new, state-of-the-art hydrogen refuelling station to support the company’s expanding range of fuel cell vehicles.

The $1.7 million facility will be constructed in partnership with Australian gas technology company ENGV and will be located at Hyundai’s corporate headquarters in Macquarie Park.

The refueller will replace Hyundai’s existing station and offer faster refuelling to Hyundai’s vehicles with the ability to generate its own green hydrogen on-site.

It will produce up to 20kg of hydrogen per day via an integrated electrolyser, as well as provide 700bar refuelling capability, rather than 350.

According to Hyundai, this will enable the NEXO FCEV to travel up to 666km on a single tank, with a refuelling time of fewer than 5 minutes.

“This investment forms part of Hyundai’s long-term commitment to a zero-emission future for Australia,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Ted Lee.

“Hydrogen fuel cell mobility is anticipated to play an integral role in the country’s transition to cleaner drivetrains and we intend to help lay the stepping stones towards making this vision a reality.”

Hyundai anticipates a “growing market” for its hydrogen technologies, including passenger and commercial vehicles as well as stationary powerplants.
