Geely Unveils Vision Starburst Concept Car
Chinese automotive brand Geely Design Shanghai has unveiled its new Vision Starburst concept car, said to be derived from the company’s “Expanding Cosmos” philosophy.
One of the most visually striking aspects of the concept is the front-end design. The sharp and unique parabolic pattern, in combination with A-shaped headlights that are interlinked by a full-length LED light bar, creates an effect that echoes from the theme of “energy releasing from a Starburst”.
There are front and rear scissor doors, illuminated wheel arches, and various lighting effects which highlight the vehicle in different states, such as, while charging, in motion, parking etc.
Whilst the powertrain is yet to be announced, it is believed to use Geely’s latest SEA architecture that it has created for pure-electric vehicles.
Taking a look inside, the interior door panels are designed with “Cosmic Ray” light strips to unify the Vision’s design. Like the exterior, the interior ambient lighting, sound, and atmosphere also change depending on the state of the vehicle. There’s also said to be a centre console that appears to be floating in the air, and a hollow gear-shifter that takes on an aerodynamic geometric shape.
The inspiration for the vehicle comes from the “Stellar Phenomena where brilliant nebulas and magnificent elements come together, merging, fusing and finally bursting into new stars.”
“The Expanding Cosmos philosophy serves as a constant inspiration for our designers to discover a new and holistic design language that satisfies our ever-expanding and increasingly diverse range for customers,” said Guy Burgoyne, Vice President of Geely Design Shanghai, at the unveiling event.
“In search for this DNA in the new digital age, we have pushed the boundaries of technology and innovation. Like the birth of a new star, the ideas from our talented team of global designers combined, fused, and erupted, resulting in the birth of a new design expression, a new vision, our Vision Starburst.”
Geely has already ruled out a direct production version of the Vision Starburst but says its design elements will reappear in future production models.
