‘Eternal Innovation’ and superior technology

Any company that has “eternal innovation” as the tag line describing its philosophy is either brave or bonkers.

In the case of AVASS Group – an Aussie company focusing on the transformation of the auto industry from fossil fuels to electric vehicles (EVs) – it’s a statement of fact.

“The company’s goal is for AVASS to become a world-class showcase of sustainable and profitable commercial scale EV manufacturing – and to attain this goal “eternal innovation” is essential,” says AVASS chairman Allen Saylav “Without eternal innovation we will wither and die”.

Melbournebased AVASS was set up in 2011, with production of buses in 2016 starting at up to 30 buses per annum, with 300 annually in China. Current mass production in China is 5000 a year.

Since late 2015, AVASS and its former strategic partners have invested millions of dollars of equity, building up substantial infrastructure and putting in place an engineering team of 18 highly qualified professionals, backed by more than 236 assembly workers and supervisors.

With a new Melbourne factory nearing completion, production is gearing up in Australia from the fourth quarter of this year.

“R&D will be the strength base in Australia, with further expansions in China for high volume marketing capacity,” says Saylav. “We currently sell buses in Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia and Turkey. But with the development of our range of products competing in the Chinese market, we have recently been targeting markets globally, offering attractive pricing complemented with superior technology.

“Not everyone wants to buy mass-produced products out of China,” laughs Saylav.

While buses remain the focus of AVASS’ market drive, the company also produces bikes, trikes, rolling chassis and e-scooters. “We see the e-trikes as an excellent small EV product for use in urban
and CBD locations around the globe – they are affordable, economical and convenient, and suitable for ‘last mile’ delivery systems.

“AVASS supplies both cargo and passenger product and we aim to promote these particularly throughout Australia and New Zealand,” adds Saylav. But for now, the company’s priority is buses. AVASS sets itself apart from its competitors by creating electric vehicles that no other manufacturer can duplicate. This commitment has resulted in the accelerated development of AVASS long distance passenger buses, with a range of well over 1000km with a rapid single charge.

AVASS is, in fact, the holder of the Guinness World Record for an electric bus travelling more than 1000km on a single charge.

Its Matilda City Bus delivers exceptional route flexibility and proven operational performance with the greatest range of any zero-emission, battery-powered electric bus in Australia.

Made with an advanced fibre-reinforced body and the market’s highest efficiency electric drive train, this unique and innovative city bus is designed to safely and quietly provide nearly two-decades of on-road service with minimal maintenance required. It can run for 600km per day for urban use without requiring re-charging.

“AVASS manufacturing solutions and mass commute EVs prosper our customers, investors and stakeholders as we develop a growing business that not only yields returns but enhances the world we live in by providing a viable clean transport option,” says Saylav.

“Our target customers are Australian state governments, Australian and international bus fleet owners for commuter services, bus charters, municipalities, universities, schools and business owners for mass commercial public transport – both here and overseas.

“Looking to the future, AVASS will continue specialising in buses and coaches that are designed, developed and manufactured in Australia – becoming the principal authority in the urban mass commercial transport field, and our EV solutions will continue to be silent, efficient, safe and sustainable.”

And always guided by that policy of “eternal innovation”.
